Synthetic Diesel Oil

Diesel is obtained from fuel oil through fractional distillation. It is a special kind of oil that is used in diesel engines. Synthetic diesel is a term used to refer to a special category of diesel. Natural gas is synthesized by materials like garbage, wood, corn, hemp, and straw. Sewage water and food left-over are also used. This gas goes through a process of purification. After following the method of Fischer Tropsch, this gas is transformed into Synthetic Diesel. In this process, methane, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide are used to produce liquid hydrocarbons in varied forms.

The production of diesel oil has been revolutionary. It indicated the connection of synthetic oil to diesel oil that can be produced by using biomass. This process was then developed and the resultant method was termed as Biomass to Liquids (BTL). The environment friendly way of manufacturing synthetic diesel has been well received. This prompted the manufacturers to try out other methods of creating synthetic diesel. Natural gas is widely used to produce synthetic diesel these days. The process by which natural gas is used as the raw material for synthetic diesel is termed as GTL or Gas To Liquid. Coal has also been zeroed in as the raw material for producing Synthetic Diesel. This process is known as CTL or Coal To Liquid process.

The reason why synthetic diesel is so popular these days is because of its capability of emitting decreased rate of pollutants in the air. The air pollution is decreased by almost 30%. Environmentalists are encouraging the use of synthetic diesel in a bid to save this planet from being polluted further.

Diesel has come a long way since it was invented. The first diesel engine was manufactured in 1891 by Herbert Akroyd Stuart in England. This was improvised by Rudolph Diesel in the following year. The name of Diesel came to be used as the specific oil that was used to run such an engine. After more than a century, diesel has come to mean a term that includes oil extracted both from petroleum and other environment-friendly sources.

Now that diesel is being produced from different sources using various methods, the terms synthetic diesel and petrodiesel have come into existence. Petrodiesel is distinctly different from synthetic diesel. For petrodiesel, fractional distillation of crude oil is required. Between a temperature of 200 degree and 350 degree Celsius petrodiesel is produced. An optimum atmospheric pressure is required for petrodiesel to be manufactured.

Diesel has always been preferred by car owners because of the release of greater mega joules per liter as compared to gasoline. Diesel can be more easily refined. The cost of using diesel is also considerably low. The use of synthetic diesel has been revolutionary in this modern generation.
